THANK YOU to the sprint gang tonight, who are awesome cheerleaders. When I sat down tonight I was like, I have 5k to go, think I'll do ~2k tonight and the rest tomorrow. But they cheered me on and I DID IT ALL!

Wow, I hadn't posted _anything_ about NaNo this year. Haven't posted much of anything since we moved, actually. Probably due to both unpacking in general and also that my computer is currently set up on the coffee table in the living room and sitting at it for extended periods of time is quite uncomfortable. But, as evidenced by my snazzy new icon, I persevered and wrote all my words. Yay! Alan also won, and honestly I think it was him doing so well that kept me going. Throughout most of the month I was so uninspired to write, but it was him sitting at the coffee table next to me typing away that made me pull my socks up (as he would say) and just do this thing.

I never did get any flash of brilliance or even just a good idea, so it ended up being a Zorro reboot, and I didn't think I'd make it to 50,000 words just because the premise was so weak. But hey, any landing you can walk away from, right?

See you next year, NaNo!

So Alan and I braved the zanies and went out tonight. Yay for Grandma babysitting! We went back to the Irish pub on L street we discovered earlier this week, though of course tonight there was a line. It was _really_ close - we made it inside with one minute to spare according to the "live" Times Square broadcast. I had a fantastically dirty martini and once it quieted down enough to actually speak to a bartender, I taught him how to make an Irish Black Russian, which I have not had since Paris seven years ago and have never been able to find anywhere else. I actually can't remember what it tasted like (then, not tonight), except that it was good, and what the bartender put in front of me tonight was also quite tasty. So yay! Until now whenever I've tried to explain it to a bartender, no one has been willing to try, but this guy tonight was awesome. Could perhaps have been the boobage, which was the other good thing about tonight.

He's dragging me off to bed now so will ahve to finish later.
