In light of the 100-books meme going around (and the attendant "I can't believe they didn't include x!" comments), and talking to [livejournal.com profile] trustme1013 about sci-fi street cred, I was thinking: what would you put on a top 100 sci-fi books list? Yes, I'm sure there are already ones out there, but I thought it would be fun to consult the f-list and come up with our own.

So, what makes your list? And since I know most of y'all read both, I'm going to include fantasy too. A lot of the good, old "speculative fiction" really straddles the line, anyway.

{Grins} Which two? They're all great books and I'm a voracious reader. I stopped at ten because things may have gotten silly! For instance, right now I'm looking at the list and going: Oh dear, I forgot to put a Terry Pratchet book on!

Night Watch (actually what I've heard of is the movie) and The Handmaid's Tale.
