So, I did this meme a long time ago over in [livejournal.com profile] johnnies_darlin and was recently reminded of it by [livejournal.com profile] xpolmex, so I thought I'd dust it off (since I have a few more people on my flist now to participate). So:

Tell me of a fandom (book, movie, tv, whatever) you know I know of and I'll tell you :
1. The first character I fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
6. The character I would shag anytime
7. The character I'd want to be like
8. The character I'd slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise

(answers may contain spoilers, but most of you already know most of my fandoms anyway)

per [livejournal.com profile] eonone, Harry Potter

1. The first character I fell in love with: Remus, hands down. I was reading the books and thinking, "Yeah, this is cool," and then I met Remus. And now I'm a blubbering fangirl.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Lucius. Admittedly, this is mostly because of fanfic and rp's, and my Narcissas have been very lucky in having wonderful Lucius...es (Lucii?) to play with.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: I totally do not understand the fangirling of Draco. Just, no.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: am with Aimee on this in that I don't think I can come up with a character that everybody hates. Oh. Maybe Umbridge. *shivers*

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Hermione. I used to ship her and Ron, but the way it was handled was just... yeah, I don't admire her so much anymore.

6. The character I would shag anytime: Remus, Lucius, perhaps Snape.

7. The character I'd want to be like: McGonagall. No-nonsense teacher sounds very nice, plus Animagism is way cool. Too bad she's a cat, though. I'd rather fly.

8. The character I'd slap: Draco

9. A pairing that I love: Lucius/Narcissa, of course. Cissa/Snape when I'm in the mood for slight crack.

10. A pairing that I despise: hate hate hate Harry/Ginny. And I'm even not that fond of the sudden, everything-is-squeeful-now way that Lupin/Tonks was handled.

[livejournal.com profile] moon_very_thin says Firefly

1. The first character I fell in love with: Probably Kaylee. Her cuteness blows everyone else out of the water.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Mal. Oh lord. See, I'm a pretty-boy kind of girl, and Mal just... well... isn't. So it was a slow buildup but he's totally grown on me and now I'd probably have his babies.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Not that crazy about Wash - not sure why but he just never clicked for me.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: I actually find Jayne's grumpiness somewhat adorable. Sometimes.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Hmm. Other than slowly falling in love with Mal, everyone is pretty much in the same place as they were when I met them.

6. The character I would shag anytime: Mal. Or Simon if I'm in the mood for the kind of boy I would actually take home.

7. The character I'd want to be like: Inara, minus the prostitution.

8. The character I'd slap: Mal, to get something through his thick head.

9. A pairing that I love: Simon/Kaylee, and I've seen a couple surprisingly well-written Simon/Inara pieces.

10. A pairing that I despise: Jayne/Kaylee or River/anyone (especially Mal)

[livejournal.com profile] alphadsnz_fb asked for Wheel of Time

1. The first character I fell in love with: Gawyn is just so much the perfect fairy tale prince. How can you not love this boy? Plus there's nothing sweeter than a man in love, and he is besotted and it's so cute. Perrin always seemed so sweet, too. His cautious nature is just adorable. I think I fell out of love with him somewhere between books 5 and 7 (can't remember now exactly what did it), which is about the time I started falling for...

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Mat. The mischievous boy no good girl should like. _So_ not my usual style. But the boy has charm. It just took a while for it to work on me.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Hmm, I don't know that I've spoken to enough other readers to get a sense of who is favored and who's not. But Elayne and Aviendha drive me crazy (I hope I'm not alone in this).

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: I have always loved Moiraine. The couple other WoT fans I've spoken to have been pretty much *meh* about her. But this woman is why I keep reading the books (even while she's away). Egwene has been a suitable distraction in the meantime. Oh, and Jordan (my friend, not the author) can't stand Nynaeve, but I think she's fascinating and keeps getting better in each book (if only everyone else did, too).

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer: Well, I mentioned Perrin above. And Rand is really starting to get on my nerves. He was okay before, but now he's seeming, well, whiney.

6. The character I would shag anytime: Mat or Lan. I prefer someone who knows what the hell he's doing. *wink*

7. The character I'd want to be like: Back to Moiraine. If you don't know why I'm so in love with her, find a copy of New Spring. The girl is cool.

8. The character I'd slap: ELAYNE followed closely by... well... not really closely. Actually, come to think of it, no one annoys me nearly as much as Miss high-and-mighty Daughter-Heir.

9. A pairing that I love: I love Mat/Tuon and Rand/Min.

10. A pairing that I despise: Rand/the other two. *pulls hair*

Sure, take the easy one!

Done.

Hooray! And you DO have fabulous Lucii. :D

And I agree with you on the Remus/Tonks bit. I think the ending of book 6 was really rushed, and that's probably part of it. I don't think it was meant to be such a surprise, it just sort of got manhandled in the rush to get it printed.

I hope next time she does us all a favor and doesn't let her pregnancy hormones write the book. HBP was not nearly as tight as all the ones previous, and on the whole I was more than a little disappointed with it. (Except that it gave me a base for my Cissa/Snape obsession *wink*)
