Yeah, his mom's family's all Scottish, and he was born in--oh, some city like Edinburgh, I forget--but raised mostly in Illinois. Listen to the commentary track for TEC/TDD and you'll hear him do a Scottish accent. It's rather charming.
*grins* - yeah, I remember reading that when I looked him up on IMDB after I first watched "The Empty Child" back in S1.
I heard him do a *lovely* soft scottish accent just for a few moments when I was watching through The Friday Night Project episode he guest-hosted (vids are on Youtube if you want to track them down).
TFNP is so *very* not my kind of humour, but I found myself enduring it anyway for JB's segments. Partly, I think out of sheer amazement that if this appearance is to be believed, it's nigh impossible to tell the difference between Mr Barroman being Mr Barrowman, and Mr Barrowman being Jack. Then again, I'm not sure if this is because he's not acting at all when he's being Jack, or he's simply acting the same character no matter which cameras he's in front of...
But yeah... the Scottish accent of doom. Almost as lovely as hearing Mr Tennant speak in *his* native accent. Then again, I'm kind of biassed when it comes to Scots accents...
