Finally got my characters for Chimera! I got my first choice for Nightmare Circle but not Flight of the Hindenburg. I had wanted Marion Ravenwood but she must have gone fast (no real surprise). So now I have Colonel Alexis von Frankenstein, and I just got her character sheet last night and... she's scary, and not really what her short description said. I'm not sure I can actually play her, as much fun as a fake German accent would be (how do you even say "colonel" in a German accent? It sounds funny. And speaking of sounding funny, Alexis is a terrible name and doesn't sound German at all). I think I might have missed a memo or something because the character sheet talks about things that are happening in connection with the flight that I have no idea about, but it presents as if common knowledge (thus not really explaining or giving any background). What's this air race it keeps mentioning? Is my character looking for that one thing specifically on the flight (and why in the world would it be there?!!), or just in general? Also it doesn't say how many other people know what my character knows. Is it supposed to be secret? Gah! I wonder if there are other characters still open and if I could swap. Though if everyone is set up similarly I'm not sure how much help that would be. And I don't know the GM from Adam so I feel odd about talking to him, especially to be so picky and demanding when I'm a newb. *sigh* I shouldn't have got my heart set on Marion. Thankfully the dress I'm making is pretty standard '30's and should work for anyone. Except if Alexis is supposed to be in uniform... dammit.

heh - I had the same as well. Pretty much all of it is secret unless you hear someone else talking about it is the path I'm taking.

The GM for Hindenburg is Ryan, and he's a nice guy. If you're not happy with playing Alexis von Frankenstein, just send him a note saying it's very different from what you expected and you're not comfortable playing it, can he recommend a character that's more

It shouldn't be a problem :)

She's... doable. She's rather against type for me, but I think I might be able to pull it off. And the German accent will be fun.

Also do you think he would be receptive to a name change? I've been trying and I can't even say "Alexis" in a German accent.

If you don't feel happy and comfortable with your character then it might indeed be a good idea to look at others. The list here http://nzlarps.org/chimera/larp_the_flight_of_the_hindenburg.htm has all taken ones in green, but I can see there are a lot of characters still available. Honestly, the description in that table says nothing at all about what characters really are. Ryan indeed is a very nice guy, I'm sure he'll understand if you wanna change, and if you feel uncomfortable asking him yourself ask Alan to check for you, I'm sure he wouldn't have any problems talking to Ryan.

The larp should be fun, and if you so much feel uncomfortable about your character there should be ways to do something.

And um... sorry about Marion.

Heh, does that mean you got her?

lol! Well then I don't feel so bad about it.
