Winter is coming

Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] trustme1013 for repeated use of a disturbing icon, but this time it really is appropriate.

HBO has finally given the production order to film the pilot episode of A Game of Thrones

I think I'm the only one here who reads it, but srsly you guys are missing out. The books are fantastic. Dark, admittedly. But dark in a sometimes-real-life-sucks kind of way instead of just for darkness' sake. But oooohhh it'll be so pretty on screen and you all have _no_ idea how excited I am about this.

I own the first book, but I haven't quite gotten around to reading past the first few chapters, unfortunately. Will definitely have to do so though!

I forgive the use of said icon. =)

Archaeogoddess wanted to use OpenID, but it won't let me sign in, the jerks.

Oh, no, I am also a huge fan of A Song of Ice and Fire and I CANNOT wait for the next book. I love the darkness, grubbiness (I can see the blood, sweat, and dirt on these characters), and the intricacy... and the way that you can't possibly know what's going to happen next. I spent a lot of time yelling "WHAT!" in the last book and when I finished the last page I ranted at my boy for a while about how it was Completely Unfair that I, the Reader, was Left Hanging while Important Characters go blind, get lost, rise from the dead, are left for dead, may or may not be dead, you wish were dead, are facing the dead who have risen again, and/or are facing a fate worse than death.

True genius!

No, you were right the first time, Ice and Fire. The article got it wrong.
