Srsly has it been that long since I posted? Dang.

Today Morgan made wedding invitations for her wedding to Gustavo when they grow up. Some of them are a picture of the church (with the road leading up to it and the sun in the sky above) and the others are of her in a veil. So cute!

It reminded me that when I was in elementary school every now and then a couple of the kids in my class would get "married" and we friends of the bride-to-be would spend all of recess picking little tiny daisy-like flowers from the playfield and weaving them into flower crowns and bracelets for the wedding party.

Anybody else have fake/imaginary weddings at a really young age like this?

So cute! I didn't have a fake wedding myself, but when I was eight or so, two three-year-olds whose parents were friends of the family got "married" when we all went camping together, and as the oldest, I officiated. Does that count? :D

Ha! Sure it does!

I don't remember this, but one of my Mom's favorite stories was picking me up from my first day of pre-school:

"So what did you do today?"
"Played with blocks... got married"

She even remembers the name of the guy I married that day, but damn if I can't remember on my own.

I remember one time the girl we made the flowers for had a bit of a hissy and threw them down and there was DRAMA. lol

The only time I remember there being drama was when the "groom" refused to get married-- which was more often than not, since they had to kiss to be officially married (of course!).

HAHA! btw one of my captcha phrases is "husbands" ;)

Um, that ^ was me. Dunno why it put me as anonymous :P

Yeah, I do remember the boys being hesitant. I suppose being married sounded like a good idea but when it came right down to it they suddenly remembered that girls were icky and had cooties. :D

1st grade boys being hesitant to get married? That sounds like most ADULT boys I know (our hubbies excluded, natch).

[identity profile] janetlin.livejournal.com 2009-08-19 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, some boys never do really grow up much in the intervening years. And the ones who do get snatched up by girls like us!

Oh, we definitely did that in Catholic school! Catholic wedding and everything! (not that the boys willingly participated!)

Hi, btw! *waves madly*
