School joy (whoa, can those two words even go together?)

Took my Child Development and Intro to Linguistics finals today. They were both multiple-choice tests so I was done in, like, 20 minutes for each of them. Child Dev. was a scantron test so I won't find out my grade until my report card comes out, but we took the Linguistics test in one of the computer labs and it was instantly graded. 160.5/169 Woot! Nice solid A there. Which brings my course total to 81.5% ('cause I missed doing an online assignment because I'm terrible about remembering such things). And Child Dev. ~ I dunno. I either really knew my stuff or was just pulling things out of my ear. Still, if I got below a B I would be surprised. Figuring that, though, if I just eked by with 80% on the test, that would give me a course total of 71%. Bleh. Missing a single assignment can really mess you up.

And I heard back from my geology professor today (I'd emailed her yesterday asking for the web address where we could check our grades):

Hi, Sierra

Here's what it says:

Last Exam: 89%

Course average: actually 77% because of all the missing homework. But I'm calling it a B- because I saw you falling into the rhythm of school as the semester went on. It was a pleasure to have you in class.

Have a good break.

JK

*jumps on couch* I LOVE THIS WOMAN!

So, okay:

Linguistics - 81.5% B
Child Development - 71% C :( (far too close to a D for my liking)
Geology - 77% "B-" :D
Russian - dunno yet. If I got either a B or C (which are most likely), that still keeps me above the 2.0 Grade Point Average I needed for this semester (won't do much to improve my already crummy cumulative GPA). If, however, Dr. Gray loves me and gives me an A, that'll just push me over into 3.0, and I can reasonably pursue looking at study abroad for next year.

Yay!
*cross-fingered hugs*
I didn't understand much of this post, I must admit, as I'm not familiar with western study system that much, but from your comments I guess things are going well

Back in August I posted about the American education system because [livejournal.com profile] allova had asked (and she's right, it's ridiculously complicated).

Lemme know if you still have questions.

Gosh, this is a long post! I'll read through and try to understand, then may ask questions *goes to the linked page in complete astonishment*

I'm not sure how much is different and how much is the same, so I just put everything in there.
