Your post suddenly reminded me of when my family was walking along the beach one night. My younger sister, then aged 3, eyed the darkness warily before tugging on my mother's sleeve and asking, "Is there sea at night?" Being unable to see the sea which had merged in blackness with the night sky, she was suddenly unsure whether it was still there.
Oh dear, so cute! I don't deal much with children, so usually get to know what they say from other people. One of the most rememberable was from Chantelle on Easter Camp about someof her little student, one of whom apparently couldn't persuade the other and so asked for assistance: "Miss, could you tell her please that he DIED on Easter, and his BIRTHDAY is Christmas?"

"The woods are very scary," says Morgan.
"Why, honey?"
"There's dragons."
"Oh, well, Rusty's really good at scaring away dragons. He'll keep us safe."
"Yeah, Rusty take care of the dragons."
Yes, it's fascinating to see how her little mind works.
