Wheee! ZOMG, I actually feel _good_ about my British Lit final and term paper!!!
I _totally_ procrastinated the paper. I didn't even start it 'til yesterday evening. It was to be 4-5 pages long expanding upon either any of the response paper (1-2 pgs) prompts throughout the semester, or any of the unused prompts from the midterm (he gave us six to study/prepare for, three were chosen on the day of the exam, and we had to write on one of those three). So I chose "Analyze two of Geoffrey Chaucer's pilgrims from The Canterbury Tales in terms of anti-clerical satire and Chaucer's commentary on the medieval church. Who and what does he satirize?" 'cause, srsly. Shooting fish in a barrel. So I wrote one page, and then decided to take a "break" and play a Lucius/Narcissa scene with
eonone. When I realized that I probably didn't have the willpower to stop playing and return to my paper, I started writing it in the pauses while she typed up her responses. I got another page and a half done this way (multitasking! gasp, shock!). Then she had to go to bed, and I puttered out another half a page before deciding that I would probably be more coherent if I woke up early to finish instead of staying up late.
Turns out I was right (acid test, I know): I woke up at fivethirty after slapping the alarm several times and the last page flew by in less time than I'd thought. So I had some extra time and I *gasp* semi-prepared some of the essay prompts for the final, did some last-minute cramming, took a bath and shaved my legs, woke up Morgan and took her to school, and got myself to school forty five minutes early. This is so not like me. So I sat in the classroom and *gasp* studied some more. And I really do feel pleased with how I think I did. One of the poetry attributions I know I totally pulled out of my ass, but the rest I think I actually _knew_. And my essay was _much_ better thought-out and presented than the one for my midterm was (it helped that I didn't change my mind in mid-stride this time and end up tearing a whole page out of my blue book and starting over *facepalm*).
So yeah. Holy cow. I think I might actually have a B. My attendance wasn't great, but I participated well when I was there. And unless the homework assignments I missed come back to bite me in the ass. ... yeah, okay, maybe a high C. Which means I'll have to retake the class. But if I can get this same teacher, I think that wouldn't be so bad, aside from the extra time spent.
But right, focusing just on the final, I'm feeling really chipper!
