The one shiny moment from Tuesday (yes, there actually was one) is that Alan gave me a promise ring. Squeeeeeeee!! It's _so_ pretty and sparkly. It's an oval sapphire flanked by five small diamonds on each side. Sapphire is his birthstone and also the traditional gift for the fifth anniversary, and this month will be five years since we first met. Eeeesqueebounce!

What colour sapphire is it? I mean, I know people expect them to be blue, but actually sapphire is corundum of any colour but red (which is ruby).
