Flight Rising day of fail

Sooo I made what are probably a couple of newb mistakes today.

I wasn't happy with the progeny previews when I paired one of my hatchlings (Maize/Shadow/Lemon) with _any_ of the males in my lair, so I Scatterscrolled her.

Oops.

And then I was exalt leveling her in the Kelp Beds and an Unhatched Water Egg dropped.

O_O!!!!!!

Because I'm a doofus with no impulse control, I hatched it.

Boy do I hate Mirrors. Even their babies aren't cute.

refrigerator habits

Okay, so I think I just figured out what is _up_ with milk in this house.

1. We buy gallons of milk (skim for me, whole for Morgan and recipes). Morgan and I like to drink milk straight, and several of our favorite dishes call for it.

2. Milk is not consumed in the quantities expected, and goes bad in the fridge. I discover this the hard way. Yick

3. Next grocery run, we buy half-gallons so as not to be wasteful this time.

4. I finally get to drink the milk I was craving when I discovered the last batch was bad, rediscover my love for it, and blow through it at a rate of 2-3 glasses a day. You know, so as not to be wasteful. It lasts less than a week.

5. Next grocery run, we buy full gallons so as not to run out again so quickly. Besides, Morgan and I like to drink it straight, and several of our favorite dishes call for it. I try to hold myself back and make it last.

6. Milk is not consumed in the quantities expected, and goes bad in the fridge....

If only they made a 3/4 gallon, we'd be set. ;)

So a while back I was randomly suddenly obsessed with Sean Bean. That's stuck for a while, but now thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mermaidrain I am (not-so-randomly) suddenly obsessed with Hugh Jackman. Whoa lord I want one.

I have such a bizarre yen to do something crafty. Not, like, twirl-your-moustache-and-smirk kind of crafty, but like, crafts. Like, I want desperately to do some embroidery or cross-stitching. Apparently it has to be needlework, 'cause I've been feeling this way for about a week and every time I do, I look at the box containing my yarn for crocheting Handmade Hugs, and I just go, "eh, no." I blame Victorian fiction for filling my head with images of ladies sitting around in the parlor, chatting over needlework. Never mind that neither of the books I have read or am reading include any such scene, it's just the _feeling_ I get from them. Yarg, must find a project and then find a way to justify doing it. It will probably, therefore, end up being something Disney Princess-related, for Morgan's bedroom. Unless I can find a kit for something that will work in with the photo collage wall in my front room. Hmm.

I have the most bizarre craving today... for Sean Bean.

Like, just randomly, right in the middle of my work day, I realize that I really really want to watch a movie with Sean Bean. No particular movie of his, but not just any movie in general. Specifically one with him in it. Preferably as a main character ('cause otherwise there just isn't enough of him). But just this very sudden and irrational and persistent I MUST SEE SEAN BEAN. This has never happened before.

So I went on IMDB and trawled around for pictures and plot synopses, etc., and then read about the Sharpe novels/movies on Wiki. Took a little detour to Horatio Hornblower and the Aubrey/Maturin novels, but no. It has to have Sean Bean. To the extent that I'm very tempted to take my "lunch" break right now (ten to four) and drive over to Blockbuster and rent something. How weird is this?!

So, in case I do decide that I can spend the money, any recommendations?

Oh, and from IMDB: In his home country of England, he was recently voted the second sexiest man in the UK, and seemed to enjoy this notoriety, stating, "I don't have any problems with women seeing me as their ideal bit of 'rough'. Why would I?"

"Ideal bit of 'rough'." Oh lord yes.

I should really pay more attention to Boromir.

On my way home from dropping Morgan off this morning, I popped into Wal Mart to get a pair of driving gloves (as mine have been eaten or something). Well, the gloves are right next to the wallets, and the one I'm using currently is rather fat, even when it's empty, and for a while now I've been wanting one that's skinny enough I could actually carry it in a pocket, instead of a purse. Speaking of purses, those are right next to the wallets and gloves, too. And I find one that's a nice size in between my little zebra handbag that only carries my wallet and cell phone, and my larger Audrey Hepburn bag in which I could fit a full 8 1/2 x 11" notebook. And it's only five bucks. Heck, why not?

On my way to the registers, I remember that I had wanted to get two more skeins of yarn so I could finish my latest Handmade Hugs blanket, so I head over to crafts, and between Accessories and Crafts I find this very nice dark charcoal grey woolen skirt.....

Yeah.

I actually at one point had _two_ skirts in my basket, though, and my willpower made me put back one. It's a small victory, but it counts.
