May. 9th, 2005 04:33 pmWork has been going well. I went through my training really quickly, and it only took me a couple days to get the hang of the front desk. My uniforms still haven't arrived (mainly because they weren't ordered until last Friday). Today we had a test of our fire alarm, which is godawful loud and high-pitched. We tried to schedule it at a time when most guests would be out of the hotel, but at least one was still there, and she called down to the desk to ask what was going on.
"They're just testing our fire alarm system," I tell her.
"Why?"
duh... "So we can make sure it's working correctly."
"Well, it's really hurting my ears."
"It's hurting everyone's ears, ma'am. It's that loud all over the building."
"Well, they need to stop."
Oh, okay, I'll get right on that. (shakes head)
