So my character for the Nightmare Circle game in December is basically a 1920's female version of Daniel Jackson. Tee hee! We shall see how she fares against the horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos. She is squishy like a squishy thing so here's hoping she doesn't get into any combat. Though that's exactly the sort of thing that the government has sent [livejournal.com profile] allova's character in for. Should be fun!

Oh god oh god oh god oh god. Boiling Rock 1&2 have just killed me ded. There was such fantasticness all over the place. And the... when they... and then she... DUDE. There just are no words but oohhhh such good squishy. Sokka and Zuko, as usual, have the very best lines.

Sokka: ...are you happy now?
Zuko: I'm never happy.

Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon.
Zuko: *pause* That's rough, buddy.

Zuko: Hey! Watch who you're shoving!
Inmate: I think you mean _whom_ I'm shoving.

*dies*

As [livejournal.com profile] kiwifruitbat has so happily declared, his Valentine's Day gift to me has finally arrived.

"Arkham" and "Miskatonic University" from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, from way back when [livejournal.com profile] allova mentioned it in her entry. Oh I love my lad who indulges my geeky obsessions. He _says_ he ordered them for me before I posted my reply saying those were the ones I was interested in. They came with four sample sizes of other scents, two of which I actually kind of like.

I'm wearing Arkham at the moment, and it's a bit... cooler, and spicier than I usually prefer, but it has mellowed nicely. Miskatonic, just from sniffing the bottle, really does smell like coffee. Tee hee.

Oh, and of course it was shipped in bubble wrap, which Morgan saw me unpack. She comes into my room a bit later and looks at the empty space on my desk and said, "Where's the bubbles?"

I tell her, "it's gone."

"Did you put it in the garbage?" she asks, and I say yes. She gasps, "No, you're supposed to pop them!" as if I've committed some heinous sin. I laugh 'cause she's so cute when she's indignant, and she admonishes me with one finger, "That's the whole point." Oh, silly mommy.

How cool is that?! So I have an extra sweatshirt now. ETA: Which [livejournal.com profile] kiwifruitbat just claimed.

Tonight was tabletop game night. Did we play? No. Then what did we do with our time? Spent a good hour and a half arguing over whether Firefly was better than Battlestar Galactica and the Star Trek franchise, and whether aforementioned shows were even similar enough to _make_ such a judgement. Then [livejournal.com profile] ktbee threw in Farscape, and I thought things would have to be taken outside. It was so unbelievably fabulous. [livejournal.com profile] gravilim and I were just sitting on the couches watching the whole thing (between the other four players - well, three players and the GM) in rapt fascination.

We were too busy passionately debating the merits of science fiction shows, to play our roleplaying game.

Can we win some kind of geek award with that?

So my Child Development teacher walks into class this morning, and declares before doing anything else, that, "today is going to be a bad day." And I felt like such a geek for wanting to reply with, "Well, not unless the Pope and the King of France are jealous of your wealth and power and decide to falsely accuse you of heresy." *snerk*

I really don't think anyone else in the class would have understood.

And huh, almost exactly seven hundred years. It doesn't sound like that long a time, when you're just looking at the number, but when you think of what was happening: "Oh, the Inquisition was forever ago..."

Game geekery meme from [livejournal.com profile] allova

Name 12 characters you have played in RPGs, before looking at the questions that follow. List your characters numbered 1 to 12, with the name of the RPG you played them in. Once you've picked your 12 characters, look at the questions and answer accordingly. (No peeking until you've picked your characters!) Put your answers behind a LJ-cut.

1. Isabeau D'Auvergne (Brujah, Vampire: the Dark Ages)
2. Lady Alice (Adventuress, Call of Cthulhu 1890)
3. Rebecca Montgomery (Dilletante, Deadlands/Call)
4. Elizabeth Dorsett (Toreador, Vampire: the Dark Ages)
5. Narcissa Malfoy (Death Eater's wife, Harry Potter)
6. Sapphire Burke (former Browncoat, Serenity)
7. Fiona (Lhiannan, Vampire: the Dark Ages)
8. Nicola Hunter (Troll, Changeling)
9. Kember (Cleric/Radiant Servant of Pelor, D&D)
10. Victoria Mendoza (Gaucho, Deadlands)
11. Sylvia Weiss (Nosferatu, OWBN Sacramento)
12. Catherine Stewart (Student, Call of Cthulhu 1920)

Linguistic geekery for the day Tanja says we are "sooo cuuuuuuute."

Hmm, and some of this etymology has actually given me a rather interesting research project/plot bunny.....

I now officially have a "line," my very own inside joke for Game.

Jordan:  Can you Climb?

Me:  :D Hey!!   ...  :(  No.  *after checking the character sheet and realizing that my armor check penalty gives me precisely _zero_ in Climb*

So for the rest of the session, that was the thing.  "Hey!!   No."     There are far worse things one can be rememberd for having said in Game, so I don't mind at all.

Also Jordan and I declaring that one another's Reign of Grammatical Correctness was at an end.  Though we never did decide whether it was "heraldic" (me) or "heraldric" (him), because neither of us was 100% sure, we did get into a heated debate (while Rew and Rachel bought the party mounts and tack) regarding the "adjective" form of adjective.  Because Jordan does not frequently "need to use the adjective form of 'heraldry.'"  Which I said should be the adjectival form, because the "adjective" form of adjective is adjectival.

J: But I wasn't using it as an adjective; I was using it as a noun.

Me: No, you were using it as an adjective, because it was describing the noun "form."

Mmm, pedantry is fun.  Because you find yourself tickled by the discovery that the word "adjective" is not.

And I just checked my dictionary, and I was right on both counts.

Wish I had a nice, smug!Hermione icon.   Ah, but Sam and Danny will do beautifully.
