Father's Day
Jun. 19th, 2006 03:36 pmRew and I had so much fun with our dad yesterday. Both of us are totally broke, so my grand scheme from a month ago of getting Dad tickets to the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young concert in Tahoe in July is a total wash. *pout* So instead, we went up to his place, got the waverunners, and took them down to Lake Camanche (it’s supposed to be (mis)spelled that way), which was an absolute _gas_. There are only two of them and three of us, so we did have to alternate, but the water was pretty choppy so Dad and his old joints let me and Rew have most of the turns :D. I only fell off once, though never when _I_ was driving *wink* When we were packing up to leave and head across the lake to the loading ramp, I was sitting behind Rew, and I had warned him not to do any of his fancy donuts or whatnot while I’m riding with him. He laughed and said that he wouldn’t, because he knew that would make both of us fall off. So there we are, idling around, and the waverunner starts leaning (still have no idea why). Now, these things defy several laws of physics and common sense, so despite trying to counterweight (or perhaps because of it), we both go over. Ten frickin’ miles per hour, and we fall off. Geez. Oh, and Rew hadn’t strapped the line to the kill switch to his wrist, so the thing _keeps_ idling after we’re off, and starts puttering away from us (going a little faster now that it doesn’t have any weight on it). Man, it is 1) difficult to swim in a life vest, and 2) really awkward to get up and onto a waverunner from water you can’t touch the bottom of.
Once we got back to the house, Dad grilled up hot dogs on the barbecue, and we had orange cream floats for dessert. Mmmmmm. And then we put together the Aegis-class destroyer that was part of the multi-set of Legos Rew and I got Dad for Christmas. Very very much fun, though now Dad has to find a place to put the thing! It’s a good twenty-something inches long.
And on the drive home, Rew and I talked about all sorts of things from sex to relationships in general to the nature of the Divine to my "cosmic soup" theory regarding souls and reincarnation to the nature of physical attraction to body hair removal (in that order, too). Cool stuff when one’s sibling is at a best friend level like that.
So a very nice way to spend a Sunday, I think.
