So yesterday it finally felt fallish. *sigh* I actually ran the heater in my car while coming home. And it's been threatening rain for _days_, but not a drop so far (they say it might be _Wednesday_ before we actually get any precip).

Saturday was mom's 50th birthday, so there was a party at Grandma's. She had not accounted for the cold weather and so had set it up to be an outside party. I stole one of her fluffy sweaters that made me look _way_ frumpy but at least I was warm. Morgan was doing her usual thing of not eating, so when mom gave her a piece of cake (with a huge icing flower) we figured she'd just poke at it like she does everything else. But of course not. First thing she does is scoop off that icing flower and put the _whole_ thing in her mouth at once. And she absolutely demolished the actual cake, too.

Yesterday we went shopping with mom and grandma to get Morgan some close-toed shoes for the imminent wet weather. We got her some cute velcro dressy tennies, and couldn't resist the baby Uggs (not brand-name, but the same style and purpose), and some blue satin Tinkerbell house slippers. And Mommy got some round-toed brown pumps so she can finally wear the pleated brown skirt that just doesn't work with _any_ of her other shoes. Heheh. And mom and grandma were aghast at the idea that I was thinking of getting acrylics, since for the past two weeks I've just been whittling my nails back down. So we went to Ulta and mom sprung for four bottles of OPI, maintaining that if I wore a good-quality nail polish, it wouldn't crack or peel and I'd be less likely to pick at my nails. "Now, you have to _use_ this," she admonished me. Gee, twist my arm.

And then dad came down and took us and Rew out to dinner at Outback. I once more fell back upon the Victoria's filet, but this time I mixed things up and actually had horseradish crumbs on top. Woo. And garlicky mashed potatoes. Outback is love. Morgan, of course, didn't touch the bowl of mac and cheese we ordered for her. But she was very interested in the tower of death-by-chocolate otherwise known as cake that Rew helped me with for dessert. *sigh*

Mom just called to bitch me out about not getting her a birthday card, and for not helping Grandma plan and execute the party.

I wish people would stop being surprised when I turn out to be a flake.

ETA: So I'm taking her to see the Thunder from Down Under to make up for it :P
