Mar. 6th, 2007 06:26 pmOMG I love March. Yesterday and today I went to school without any kind of jacket, yesterday even in short sleeves. Morgan is still stuck in a jacket mentality; when I picked her up from school and we walked outside, she said out of habit, "It's cold out here!" and actually cried because she wanted me to put her jacket on her. Guess I didn't need to try quite so hard to impress upon her "don't go outside without your jacket." Heh.
Flowering trees are just exploding all over town. I love those. I want a backyard big enough to plant cherry and apple trees and those trees with the big waxy pink and white petals. I have no idea what they are, but they're pretty. (ETA: yeah, they are magnolias) And daffodils are coming up. I love daffodils (and jonquils and narcissi) and wish I'd gotten on it and planted some bulbs under our living room window last fall so I could have some of my very own.
And St. Patrick's day is coming up, which is a good excuse for corned beef and Guinness, and also means the Celtic Faire is imminent. Maybe that Ruhan guy is still kicking around the archery guild, with his black velvet pants and his flaming rapier (have I told you guys the story about how I met him and he picked on me?).
Then a little over a week after that, it's my birthday. Not expecting anything eventful there, but still, it's a birthday.
Three days after that, Alan flies in. Don't think I need to say any more on _that_ topic.
The following day, we fly out to Missouri, where I get toinflict introduce the Cottey girls to him. And if we're very lucky, I'll get to introduce Alan to Greg, before he deploys again. Every time I see him, I know it could be the last time. They have so much in common and I know they'd get along; I wish we all had enough time for them to become friends.
Then it's Morgan's birthday and possibly the family Easter celebration, which would be lovely because _everyone_ could meet Alan. Like the big family immersion I'll get when he takes me down to New Zealand in October. Turnabout is fair, after all.
ETA: Random interesting info about magnolias: "Magnolia is an ancient genus. Having evolved before bees appeared, the flowers developed to encourage pollination by beetles. As a result, the carpels of Magnolia flowers are tough, to avoid damage by eating and crawling beetles." (Wiki) Huh. So that's _why_ they're so big and thick and waxy. Fascinating stuff.
