Moving right along with my "spring is sprung and the world is a wonderful place again" mentality, Dad came down and we had a fun day of being a parent and a grandparent. We took Morgan to Fairytale Town, which none of us had ever been to, but Dad and I figured it would be like Children's Fairyland in Oakland, which we both grew up going to. And it was right on the money. Kid-sized houses (and shoes and beanstalks) straight out of nursery rhymes to play in and climb on and slide down, King Arthur's castle and Cinderella's pumpkin carriage, also Mr. MacGregor's garden with Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail in hutches, the Three Little Pigs and Little Bo Peep's sheep. I don't think Morgan had ever touched live animals before (aside from pet dogs), so that was neat, and she giggled a lot and always waved and said goodbye to each animal we walked away from.

Then we walked over the street to the city zoo, which is nothing spectacular, but significant enough that I don't feel cheated by the price of admission (which Dad paid, anyway, but still). We had fun with Morgan making animal sounds and counting how many of each kind there were. I forget sometimes how much she learns from watching movies like Dora the Explorer. We came to an eagle's cage and I was trying to describe its qualities so she could file it in her mental index, and she interrupted me to say, "It's like a condor!" Which blew me away that she'd know of such an uncommon species, until I remembered that Dora's cousin Diego at one point saved three baby condors. Heh.

ETA: My left knee is kind of tweaky now. Hrm. Can't think of anything specific I did to it other than walking way more than I usually do in a day.
