I'm schmoozing through ye olde Off-Campus, On-Campus Cookbook trying to give myself ideas so I won't be too intimidated to actually cook for myself, and in the intro to the Desserts section, it has this note re. beverages: "It is imperative that student hosts, hostesses, or similarly destitute classes of human beings should avoid personal involvement in the production of cocktail parties like the plague. Cocktail parties eat up an enormous amount of money. Further explanation should not be necessary. One may attempt to provide large numbers of guests with beer or wine and indeed comrades in poverty thrive on such beverages and cheer each other's hearts and souls when met in its embrace."

Ahahaha, I love these people.

Oh, and for Snacks and Tidbits: "The recipes in this section are morale boosters if you have just received an F for a paper, a course, or worse; rewards if you have just received an A for a paper, a course, or better; tedium-breakers, if you have been studying for five hours straight or five minutes; diet-breakers, if you thought you could diet, etc."

I like the idea of a dessert break after five minutes of studying, lol.
