NaNo progress #2
Nov. 3rd, 2010 12:07 amDaily and overall counts have been met, currently sitting at slightly over 4,000.
I'm pleased with the numbers, but am less than pleased with what's actually happening in the story. Or rather, what isn't happening. The characters are not quite the characters I'd come up with in my pre-writing, and as such the whole thing feels a little awkward. Like, what's supposed to be a very naturally-growing friendship is just... nonexistent at the moment. My female lead is too bitter and elitist and keeps comparing everything around her (usually negatively) with home. And my male lead, though he was always meant to be a bit of a hermit, has said maybe ten words total so far. I would love to skip the awkward beginning crap and go straight to the plot and where things get interesting, but I'm not sure I can do it with these characters not behaving appropriately. :(
I usually do my best writing in these small hours of the morning, but given that this whole evening has felt like pulling teeth, tonight I'm more inclined to close Word and give my brain a rest for a while. Gah I can't believe I'm saying that this early in the game.

I miss the graph widget there was last year. The calendar isn't quite as... helpful? Inspirational?
Oh and we're at war with Finland again. ;) They're ahead at the moment but they are the better part of a day ahead of us, so.
