Book #18 - The Silver Chair

I finished Dawn Treader while out on the delta, and noticed that apparently Mom got the old boxed set of Narnia books in the divorce (interesting, since between the two of them I would have thought they belonged to Dad). Anyway, since they were there I moved straight into the next book. Apparently I've read this one, because there was a book report card stuck inside with my SEVENTH GRADE teacher's initials, and my messy printed handwriting (back in the day when bubbly letters were cool and one dotted one's i's with circles instead of dots). I vaguely remembered Eustace and Jill and even Rilian as I read, but for the most part it was like a whole new book, which was nice.
So Caspian is old and grief-stricken at the disappearance of his son, and once again takes a ship and goes haring off to the east, leaving Eustace and his schoolmate Jill Pole to find the lost prince. I'm not sure why, but this one struck me as more high fantasy than the others. Rilian's ill-fated quest to find the snake who bit and killed his mother (Y HALLO THER Mrs. Caspian, you still don't have a name!), the mysterious lady and knight which the children meet on the road, giants, enchantments... as I said, I'm not sure why I got more of a fantasy vibe from this one, since all the others are just as fantastical, but eh. Good times!
