The Renaissance. This pivotal moment in human history, when we broke free of the darkness and (sometimes) oppression of the Medieval era, can be summed up in four words:

"Boo God. Yay Boobs!"

Hm, was Medieval era really having so much of God and so few of... hmm... as it is supposed to be and as usually said? I'm not good at history, but it seems to be much like that before Renaissance as well, however, not in literature and art, which means "not officially documented":)))) What do you think on that?

The point is more that the Renaissance was much more concerned with aesthetic things, and became aware - and appreciative - of the human form in ways unheard of in the medieval era, which was much more dominated by the Church (although, don't get me wrong - the Church was still quite strong in the Renaissance, but by then people were starting to get the idea that they could think for themselves instead of being spoon-fed by the clergy). All medieval artwork was either literally or symbolically religious, and figures of people were more like placeholders than true attempts at accurately representing human bodies.

Though I think the guy who originally said the quote was referring mainly to the changes in fashion, from this to this.

Probably the main Northern Cal Faire. They've moved locations, so I don't know if they keep the same schedule, but they at least used to be from late August to October.

Ah, found a website: dates haven't changed much.

I also noticed there was a "Shakespeare Festival Road" exit off the freeway just shy of the Caldecott Tunnel, which would imply there's a Bard Fest (and much closer than Oregon!), but I have no idea any other details about that.
