Return to normality?
Jul. 6th, 2006 10:07 amWe are home from the boats. It's so nice to be on solid land again, sleeping in a real bed, with decent water pressure in the shower and a toilet that can be flushed without worrying about the status of the holding tank. Also nice to not have so many other people around. Five others is about my limit, and the fewest there ever were on the boat was nine or ten. Oog. But we've just dropped Morgan off at school, Alan is in the shower, and I'm just sitting here enjoying the _quiet_. *contented sigh*
The 4th was fun. Us kids sat up on the roof to watch the fireworks; everyone was neatly paired off except for my poor little brother. Alan pointed out the International Space Station as it went by, which apparently is a rare sighting, so I'm glad he was able to see that. He also got a kick out of the 1812 Overture being played during the fireworks. Morgan slept through the whole thing. We had intended to let her stay up so she could see them, but at 8:20 she slipped off the couch and informed me, "Bedtime," and started heading for the stairs. Not gonna argue with that. So I laid her down and she zonked pretty much immediately, and was out cold through the whole night. *snerk* She is _so_ my daughter.
Now we're off to go grocery shopping. It'll be weird to do something so mundane with Alan. The fact that he's here at all is still a bit surreal, though it's getting better every day. Part of me hopes I never lose that sense of dreamy wonder completely.
