Aug. 12th, 2006 04:01 pmIt's been a week with my nails, yay! White is showing on all of them (some more than others, of course). Unfortunately, the fact that there's a free edge there makes me want to mess with them even more, so I did some nail pampering today and the white is now cleverly hidden beneath shiny iridescent pink polish. How very girly, hm?
But the polish should help... until it starts flaking which will make the urge to mess with my nails even _worse_. The few times I've had the greatest success (once I made it a whole month), were while I was being good about maintenance. When I set aside a specific time to work on my nails, fix any flaws (with files), tidy cuticles, reapply polish, etc., I didn't feel as compelled to do "upkeep" at other times (like, while driving, when files and clippers are out of the question).
I know this isn't really interesting to anyone else, but one of the other things that has helped in the past is having someone else to monitor me. It makes me a little more responsible for my actions when I have someone to report to. And writing this here (whether you read it or not) is highly preferable to my grandmother yelling, "Don't chew your fingers!" (the easy fix for that was to make sure she wasn't in the room - not much of a deterrent).
So anyway, woot! Whites! They might actually be out to the tips of my fingers by the time I meet you Kiwis next year. *bounce*
