I've downloaded the 10-day free trial of Wrath of the Lich King, and today was supposed to be a day of sitting around and playing WoW all day (to get the most bang for my nonexistent bucks). Well, that didn't pan out, which I was grumpy about for a while. But it actually was nice to visit Grandma, who apparently made a special point to "dress up" for us and wear her denim hat with embroidered flowers.

While we were up there I txted Rew to see if he wanted to come over this evening so we could break out the BSG board game Alan's brother sent us as a wedding present (this seems to be a theme...). He said sure and asked what time, so I suggested he come early enough for dinner too, knowing he wasn't very likely to refuse free food.

We had enough time between bringing Morgan home and when Rew was due to arrive that we were able to put my bulbs and Alan's herbs into pots. Morgan had fun helping to pour the soil and pat it down, and the rain was polite enough to hold off until we were done before watering our plants for us. About a week ago, Mom and Morgan bought a pot of daffodils at the grocery store. Last year I had about four, to brighten up my otherwise unused patio area, but had problems with the wind knocking them over, even inside the walls. So this year I decided to be smart and transfer any I bought/obtained from their individual (and small-based) pots to planter boxes in the hopes that would keep them alive for longer this time. Of course it's never a simple in-and-out at the store; while we were buying the boxes Alan found seeds for veggies and herbs and things and we got a little overzealous. Eventually we came to our senses, though, and only bought a couple packets of herbs (which, of course, necessitated buying more pots). We'll see how we do with these and maybe slowly add to our little "garden." I had forgotten that I'd saved the bulbs from last year's daffodils, and was pleased to discover that even though they had been left outside all year just sitting in their pots without any kind of soil, they've already started to sprout. So I have some full-grown daffodils and four batches of happy little green shoots. That'll give us something interesting to watch while we wait for the herbs to sprout and pop up, which should take a week or two.

Anyway, Alan made yummy ham-/cheeseburgers and I see he's already raved about the game. I can see why it wouldn't work with only two players. It would probably be even better with more than just three. So we might have another session tomorrow evening. Rew says he'll come over so even if we can't rope in anybody else it'll still be good times.
