janetlin: (Ten and Donna)
[personal profile] janetlin
So okay, it's been driving me crazy out on the boats for the Fourth not being able to watch Doctor Who. But I'm home now YAY!!!

Eeeehee, yay! We still have Ten! Or is he technically Eleven now? Hrm... Tennant is Eleven just isn't as catchy. There's something... rather off, though. Like he's talking funny or his eyes are shifty or something or... or he got a haircut. I don't know. But there's something weird and I'm not sure I like post-sort ofregeneration!Doctor.

Why didn't Jack hug Donna?! He shouldn't need that kind of encouragement. Though Donna should have just glomped him instead of saying anything, too.

Eeesqueeyay! Mickey & Jackie!!!! "Us Smiths have to stick together." Oh Mickey I've missed you.

ROFL, Daleks speak German! I should not find that as funny as I do but I'm busting a gut here. But shouldn't it be "AUSROTTEN"? I suppose that wasn't obvious enough so they had to go with/make up a cognate. "Exterminieren" isn't even in my dictionary. Huh. Still, it's hilarious.

OMG Donna nooooooo!

That heartbeat! What is up? It hasn't sounded like a double-beat before but now it's starting to. And is she ABSORBING THE REGENERATION JUJU FROM THE HAND?!! omg I don't know if I can handle fobwatched!Donna!! *covers face*

Um... what the hell? I mean, not that I don't appreciate naked David Tennant, but _what_? Oh my goodness, doppelganger!Doctor (which is a mouthful. I'm sure fandom will come up with something catchier).

Jack + "exterminate" = meh. Oh, but Rose... oh dear. ... Dammit, they've been dragging that out for years now! I'm way more interested in how Rose is going to react to immortal!Jack than a D/R reunion (which proved to be a whole lot of nothing, really. I mean they hugged, and YAY hugs! But srsly. We've been waiting all this time for _that_?).

"Oi! Watch it, spaceman!" "Oi, watch it, Earth-girl! Oooh, I sound like you." My face looks exactly like that right now. In fact, I said "oooh" at the same time as the Doctor. Dude. Okay, so maybe my face is showing a bit more delight than the shock they're both exhibiting, but still. And who else loved his little head-wobble? This is better than the Jack & Daniel show on SG1 ever was. Gonna rewind and watch that a few more times.

And they keep going with it! Oh, these people are trying to kill me with laughter.

"Something's been drawing us together for such a long time." eeeeeeeeee!!

Dude, Martha speaks German too?! Hee, looks like [livejournal.com profile] trustme1013 might have been right with her spelling of Auster-Haagen instead of Osterhagen all along. Ha, spot the German student in fandom!

Yeah, so who's surprised the German lady pulled a gun on Martha? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Agh, help me out, [livejournal.com profile] trustme1013, I can't tell what she said! The only thing I caught was "umbringen" (= kill), and something about "better to do it now," which unfortunately can be picked up from context.
... Okay, so I'm neurotic and rewound again and again until I got it. "Sie sind Albtraum, nicht die andern sie! Ich sollte Sie umbringen. Am besten leicht (shouldn't this be "leist"?) jetzt!" = You are the nightmare, not the others! I should kill you. Best do it now! ... unless she really was meant to say "leicht," which means light, and makes no sense in context. ((EDIT: I asked this elsewhere and have been corrected; what she said was "am besten _gleich_ jetzt!" which means "best do it _right_ now!" Glad to have that sorted.)) Whee, now that bit of linguistic geekery is out of the way, on to the rest of the show!

... Haha, or maybe not. "Zu Hölle mit dir" = to hell with you. Remember that, kids, next time you want to cuss someone out in mixed company. No one ever said Doctor Who wasn't educational.

They just... oh my poor Jack. Being incinerated must be absolutely no fun.

Ahahaha when he meets up with Mickey, though! Best reunion thus far. "And that's beefcake." "And that's enough hugging."

Aww, Rose is impressed with Martha. Yay for redemption from last episode's petulance! And I have to admit, I'm rather impressed with Martha, myself. Day late and a dollar short, but still.

"I made the Daleks, Doctor. You made this." Wow. Just, whoa. That's really quite horrifying. And suddenly I remember Donna's comment when she met Martha: "Is that what you did to her? Turned her into a soldier?" Wow. How did I never notice that before?
... except for Donna. She's not a weapon. And this season is ALL ABOUT DONNA. So, hmm...

"EXPLAIN! EXPLAIN!" indeed. WTF?!

"Part Time Lord." Oh. My. God. They went there.

Hee, the Ood! DoctorDonna indeed. So, not fobwatched, but the general effect is the same. *is ded and speechless*

"Ah, the universe has been waiting for me." Yes, Donna. Yes it has.

... Okay the spinny Daleks are just silly.

Heh, but the Stargate geek in me loves the fact that Donna's eyes glow.

Three Doctors... "I can't tell you what I'm thinking right now." Oh, Jack, I love you so much.

Whoa, wait, _WHAT_?!! Dalek Caan.... *resumes being speechless*

Spinny Daleks are silly, but 'splodey Daleks are all kinds of win. Tee hee!!

"One will still die." Okay, I've said before that "everlasting death" sounds to me like death without regeneration, so now I'm even more worried about Donna. 'Cause if she's a Time Lord then she can regenerate now. omg I don't know if I can handle Donna dying! *covers face*

Ha, the Gwen/Gwyneth thing is finally addressed! Cute.

"Cause y'know why this TARDIS is always rattling about the place?" ... I think I feel a squee coming on. "It's designed to have six pilots." Oh yes definitely. "No, no, not you, Jackie, just stand there." Ohh, way to kill the squee, Doc.

TARDIS = intergalactic tugboat. Not sure if I'll ever get over the lulz. Plus, hee, Ma Jones under the table.

Damn this show that can make me nervous by employing happy triumphal music. *covers face but peeks through fingers*

Aww Jack and Martha! Plus Mickey. I smell threesome!fic brewing. And hey, that's two people to fill the two *sniff* empty spaces in Torchwood. Doctor and computer wiz. Poor Gwen and Ianto will be so out of the loop with any and all Doctor references from now on. Oh, and did anyone ever explain Jack's "voice of a nightingale" thing in reference to Martha? He said it twice (once when she appeared on Torchwood and once when he saw her here) and I don't get it.

I'm not sure whether I should be happy about doppelganger!Doctor staying with Rose or groan about it being fanfiction. Who's the Doctor to condemn him, anyway? He's committed genocide, too. What gives? "Here, have a broken version of me and have fun fixing him! Ta!" Grr.

"Does it need saying?" Yes it does, you ass. Fandom will never shut up about it. If I were Rose I think I would have slapped him. Stupid Doctor. Anyone else with me in preferring the doppelganger?

And... I've seen better kisses. Come on, guys!

Oh hey, I just got the bit about the three-fold man. Ha! Three of them! *is slow*

OMFG Donna. RTD don't you fucking dare. Ohhhhh, graaaarrrrrgggghhhh I keel you! Everlasting death indeed. You should have let her have the one that would be only once. Stupid Doctor. Stupid Oncoming Storm.

"She still is." Fuck. Yeah. Sylvia. "Then maybe you should tell her that once in a while." Okay, moment of coolness there, Doc. But I still want to PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE.

So if there "can't be" a half-human-half-Time-Lord, then is the doppelganger's head going to explode too? Smooth, Doctor, real smooth.

Donna, oh Donna. *goes away and cries for a while*

Wilf could you be any cooler if you tried? Oh lord.

The console totally _is_ divided into six sections. How did we all miss that?

*breathe* Okay, that was both not quite as bad as I was expecting, and simultaneously worse. Whoa the fanfic of doppelganger!Doctor, the cheesy cop-out of the Doctor getting to stay with Rose and yet continuing to be the lonely angel of the universe. And Donna... I just... I can't even talk about Donna right now.

I want to punch RTD too, for being all, "here is the very coolest thing I've ever created, the greatest contribution to Who-dom since ever, and Moffat? Fuck you, you can't have her. Tee hee, peace out, bitches!" He suddenly reminds me very much of Rumpelstiltskin.

Also, _still_ no resolution of the immortality thing between Rose and Jack. Ggrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh.

So all told, I think it was good, though I don't think I actually liked it (had a similar reaction to V for Vendetta). If I didn't tend to get emotionally invested in characters I would probably think this was the coolest thing ever. And I do have to admit, it's probably the best writing from RTD to date. But still. *sits in the corner and pets Donna*

ETA: (because I think we all could use some happy thoughts right now) Ten in dress shirt and tie but no jacket is surprisingly even more sex-on-a-stick than Tennant's usual. Even if he is being all emo and lonely again. Um, your shirt got wet, too, might want to take that off as well...

Edit the second: The more I think about it, the more I realize that this show probably tears my heart out and tramples on it even worse than BSG. (though I still think they would be an awesome crossover and want to see it happen more)
