Not so happy as an almost-success with potty-training: Morgan climbed out of her crib yesterday morning.

I heard her chattering, which is normal. She lays in bed and talks to her dolls for a while in the morning, and then when she wants me to come get her she actually calls me. So I hear her talking and think nothing of it, and then I hear her doorknob jiggle. Huhwtf? "Mommy, you help open?" So I go and open her door and there she is, standing on the other side with her hand on the knob, and she proudly informs me, "Morgan's wake up." But how the hell did she get down? I never heard a thump on the floor, or her crib rattling, just talking and then the doorknob. Yikes.

Guess this is a good reason to be better about putting her shoes on every night. Though if she's determined to get out and she attempts it with her shoes, she will certainly fall down, which isn't a nice thought.

Safety is the highest priority, of course.
If you could find a way to see her while she's climbing out you would know how exactly that happenned.
And maybe you can lay something on the floor around, well, thick puffy blanket or other stuff like that, just in case.
Hm, dunno what else to say, I don't really have experience in such things. But if she managed to do it ok once, maybe it's all not that bad.

Yeah, but I shouldn't tempt fate and become better about putting her shoes on, anyway.

Oddly enough, one of my very clear memories from toddlerhood is climbing out of my crib. It's not very difficult and depending on the setup of the crib, includes some sliding and upper body strength. Maybe ask her to show you so you can figure it out?

Yeah, I didn't realize she had the upper-body strength for that. Throwing a leg over the top of the rail is easy, but hanging on so she doesn't just drop is a whole nother thing.

I think the best thing to do it get her a bed now. She's old enough and obviously big enough that she needs an actual bed. Then when she climbs out while wearing her shoes she won't fall and hurt herself. there's my 2censt for ya.lol.
