Go to IMDb.com and look up 10 of your favorite TV shows.
♥ Post three official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
♥ Have your friends guess the show names.

1. Science / Improvisation / Espionage
2. Action Hero / Future War / Crime
3. Submarine / Dolphin / Futuristic
4. Good Versus Evil / Back From The Dead / Babe Scientist
5. Police / Vampire / Multiple Time Frames
6. Sci Fi / Time Travel (seriously, there were only two keywords there) ETA: Police
7. Famous Opening Theme / Android / Tea
8. Extraterrestrial / Dark Past / Girl Heroine
9. Historical / Mask / Character Name In Title
10. Historical / Based On Film / Katana Sword

Most of these are no longer on the air, but think back to the early- to mid-nineties (which is when I used to regularly watch TV)

And extra credit to anyone out there who remembers Ireland / Ancient Rome / Sword And Sorcery

Ahahahaha, and Pirate / Ghost / Number In Title

This is too much fun.

Here are my guesses.

1. Who's Cold War Gadget is it Anyway? (American and Russian improv actors compete in a hilarious game of espionage!)
4. Dr. McBabe's Zombie Hero Squad (Action-Romance. The gorgeous Dr. McBabe runs her zombie crimefighting squad by day but her success cannot conqueor the loneliness in her heart - even heroes need someone to love them)
5. Constable Dracula's 70s Escapade (Count Dracula finds himself fighting crime in the seventies. A madcap fish-out-of-water comedy.)
8. Human Zoo (Teen drama about a girl with special powers, fighting to learn her past, unaware that she's a human captured from Earth growing up on a foreign planet in a simulated earth environment!)
9. Masquerade (Masquerade is mask maker in Renaissance Venice, hideously disfigured by acid burns. Wanted by the Italian crown, he flees across Europe using his superior mask making abilities to keep one step ahead of the royal assasins)
10. Katana! (Japanese game show. Contestants must answer questions on Japanese history in order to earn katanas with which to face physical challenges)

Whoa. Those are so very, very wrong.

But funny as hell.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. I had no idea what any of the TV shows actually were and inventing fake TV shows was more fun than my essay (Shakespeare's sonnets are very pretty but he just wrote so gosh darned many of them)

That could be a meme all on its own (which actually is a tempting idea).

What about the sonnets?

Heh, the second episode in Dr. Who season 3 that my Russian professor just hooked me up with is full of Shakespeare-y goodness.

What about the sonnets?

Essay du jour is a 2500-3000 word essay on Shakespeare's "strenuous rearguard action" n the sonnet sequence against Time's all encompassing endeavours. It's worth 40% of the class mark. It's certainly going to be a much more inspiring and fulfilling essay than my Bridget Jones one but the question is so open and there are so many sonnets, I'm still feeling a little at a loss as to which way to go.

On the plus side, I get to read loads of pretty sonnets.

That _is_ a frustratingly open and vague topic.

Ha. And then I went and checked my friends page. *snicker*

*waves* Over here via allova. I'll leave room for others to make fun guesses...but #5--is that Forever Knight?

I agree with nimlotbradamant's pick for 5. 9. is too easy to comment on. I'm thinking 7. might be Star Trek: The Next Generation and 1. actually makes me think of MacGuyver. I'll leave the rest for other readers.

It's the "mask" bit, isn't it?

3) is Seaquest. Right?

And I know one is "Doctor Who" but I can't decide if it's 6) or 7) or wait! It's 6) and 7) is Buck Rogers? That's the only other show with an android I can think of.... But that wasn't in the 90's was it. I SUCK at these things! =P"

Whee! Someone else remembers SeaQuest!

Who is neither 6 nor 7.

6) Sliders?

Gosh I'm terrible at all these. And I want to say the Ireland one is Xena. But that was New Zealand. But you know, Xena should just be inserted where you can insert her.

I'd forgotten all about Sliders. Too many good shows back then.

6 predated Sliders and had a much shorter run.

1, 3, 5, 7, 9 (wow, all odd numbers), and 10 (well, mostly) are right.
Come on, you should totally know 2, and 4.
Gah! I never even thought about Quantum Leap. 6 was much more short-lived. Would it help if I insert my own keyword for it of "Police"?
8: so very wrong. You should get this one

2 - Robocop
4 - Stargate SG1
6 - Bill & Teds Excellent Adventures
8 - Dr Who :)

2 and 6 are way off the mark, but you've got 4 and 8 (surprising it took someone this long)

I was thinking Dark Angel for 8. too, but I can't figure an extraterrestrial angle.

Date: 2007-04-11 11:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] janetlin.livejournal.com
I've never seen Dark Angel (though my brother keeps telling me it was good). The extraterrestrialism in the real #8 is rather the whole point.
