My car was stolen last night/this morning. I parked it in the back & closed the gate after I came home from dinner following a day full of ferrying boxes to the new apartment, and when I went to leave for work this morning, it was gone. Just gone. No glass on the ground, so I thought maybe I parked it on the street and just forgot that I had done so, but no car anywhere on the streets; I walked around my whole block.

It's not a great car, and since we were moving it was pretty much empty, but it still had Morgan's car seat (~$60) and a bag of Dad's tools he had brought down to help with taking things apart and reassembly and whatnot. Probably $100 in tools. I'm more mad about those two things than the car itself. Means we're down one vehicle this weekend, but since the boxes are mostly done and all that's left are the big furniture items, which wouldn't fit inside anyway, eh. And insurance says it doesn't cover things inside the car, unless they were attached. Damn I'm glad Mom and I didn't load up the back with boxes of my bedroom stuff last night. Geez. There's no such thing as coincidence, you know? Maybe this is a sign from God or something; new apartment, new life, new car (though the insurance estimate says the value of my car is only $1500, which is not even close to enough to buy another one). Sac Police Dept. says they have an 80% recovery rate, but *shrug* I'm not going to flip out if they don't find it. Probably the costs of towing and storage and getting me to wherever it is so I can recover it will be more than the car is worth, and the insurance people say that's all on them, so it's very likely that it would just be totalled out anyway.

Still. _Damn_ inconvenient and annoying.

ETA: Whoadamn, my claims rep was beautiful. *fans self*

Damn - major suckitude:-( So very what you didn't need at the moment, hon.

And because I can't think of anything more constructive to add than that, I shall be wishing you lots of hot Daniel dreams in consolation. Or failing that, hot Methos ones.

Because I'm just that helpful :-S

Yeah, Mom and I both just kind of stared at each other like wtf?! It's just kind of surreal. I've been living there for a year and a half now, always parking in that little "gated" (because there _is_ a gate, but it doesn't lock, so it kind of misses the point) lot next to our complex. To my knowledge, no one's car has been stolen from there, no vandalism, nothing. And the second-to-last fricking day I'm there, this happens. It's, like, some cosmic joke or something.

So yes, mmm, Daniel dreams. Or maybe claims_rep dreams. 'Cause dang he was gorgeous.

Thanks. It has turned out all right, but I'm still sort of in shock about it. It's so crazy random.

*hugs* Very not fun having your car stolen.

BTW - Mum says she's had a look at your LJ... and is amused with the number of men entries that are appearing *winks*

*Chuckles* She was actually amused and told me that she thinks you're getting clucky.

Aroo? Please define "clucky."

It's got a few meanings... but the main one is similar to (but not the same as) broody. It's the strong desire to have children, similar to a hen who is a good egg layer, without the baby chickens. When it's broody, everything is all go for a child.

In short, she thinks you're eyeing up males with an eye for kids.

Addendum to this - just because you're eyeing them up, doesn't mean you're hunting. It does mean that I'm very likely to get pounced and ravished when I'm there.

Well, yes, but it's rather disconcerting to think of your mom thinking about me pouncing and ravishing you...

There is that. The one thing I don't think she does is read the comments - thank the gods.

But the good thing was it was never stated. Merely implied. Much as your mum implies to me frequently of what may well happen when I get there. *blush*

A little bit boy-crazy + very baby-crazy = not so good.

Yes, I expect she understands about the ticking clock. Though it's not so much ticking as it is like a raindrop falling on my forehead. Chinese water torture or whatever.
